EP.41: “Loose Screws” (FEAT. THE UFR FAM)
What happens when you put JAYKERS, RAY, and STEPH in the same room and give them absolutely no reason to behave?
Well… you get “Loose Screws.”
Episode 41 brings the UFR family back together for another completely unscripted episode filled with stories, jokes, ridiculous conversations, friendly competition, and plenty of moments that probably sounded better in the studio than they do on paper.
JAYKERS is joined by RAY and the return of one of the most requested members of the UFR family, STEPH. With all three together, there’s no shortage of opinions, unexpected reactions, and the kind of back-and-forth that has become a big part of the Unfit For Radio experience.
The crew puts each other to the test with some of UFR’s favorite games, including Would You Rather, Two Truths and a Lie, and I Should’ve Known That. Some answers make sense. Some absolutely do not. And a few may leave you wondering.
From the opening chicken-and-egg experiment joke to the final goodbye, Episode 41 is exactly what the title promises—a few loose screws, a lot of laughs, and the UFR family doing what they do best.
No script. No perfect answers. No shortage of original nonsense.
Just JAYKERS, RAY, STEPH, and another episode of Unfit For Radio.
It’s Episode 41. Loose Screws. And sometimes, the best episodes are the ones where nobody has all the screws tightened.
IN THIS EPISODE:
• JAYKERS, RAY & STEPH reunite in the studio
• RAY re-shares the original limerick he created for himself and JAYKERS, then debuts STEPH’s original limerick for the first time on air

I'm doing an experiment to finally figure out the question of all time. What's that? How to live forever like me? That's old. So I ordered a chicken and an egg from Amazon.
SPEAKER_03Oh boy. Oh I think I know exactly where this is headed. We're gonna wait and see which one shows up first. This should be excellent.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it'll really be incredible. Let go my egg roll. Let's go. Alright. Welcome to Unfit for Radio with Jakers, the podcast so entertaining. Even Joe Rogan is still writing for his invitation. I'm your host, Jakers, and joining me is the one and only man old enough to remember when radio was actually. I don't even know what I said. On the radio?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, it makes sense.
SPEAKER_04Okay, I gotta re-read that. Take two. Welcome to Unfit for Radio with Jakers. The podcast. So entertaining. Even Joe Rogan is still waiting for his invitation. I'm your host, Jakers, and joining me is the one and only. That's not, there's no one and only. And joining me is the only man old enough to remember when radio was actually. No, it makes sense. It's good. I don't know why it doesn't make sense to me. Because you're dyslexic. I gotta read this so it actually.
SPEAKER_01You want me to read it for you? No. I can read it for you so you can hear what it sounds like.
SPEAKER_04Oh, okay. You mean like that?
SPEAKER_01Welcome to Unfit for Radio with Shakers. The podcast so entertaining. Even Joe Rogan is still waiting for his invitation. I got that. I'm your host, Jakers, and joining me is the only man old enough to remember when radio was actually on the radio. Oh, there we go. Okay, yeah, yeah. That's that's what it says.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03It does say that.
SPEAKER_04All right, take 500. Welcome to Unfit for Radio with Jakers. The only you just like that word only. Only not even in there. Welcome to Unfit for Radio with Jakers, the podcast so entertaining. Even Joe Rogan is still waiting for his invitation. I'm your host, Jakers, and joining me is the only man old enough to remember when radio was actually on the radio. The senior star of UFR. Ray, I did it. Welcome to the show.
SPEAKER_03Thank you. And I'm Ray, and I'm the sane one of the duo, and I'm older than Dirt still.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, does Dirt have an age? He's carbon dated.
SPEAKER_03It must somewhere in there.
SPEAKER_04And we're not stopping there. Back in the studio for episode 41 is someone our listeners always love hearing from. She's the wife of the host, my best friend, the love of my life, and one of the most requested members of UFR. Stephanie, my love, welcome back to the show.
SPEAKER_05I'm glad you're here.
SPEAKER_01Thank you, babe. It's great to be back. I have no idea what we're talking about today, but considering it's unfit for radio, it's probably for the best.
SPEAKER_04Let's go. On this episode, we've got stories, jokes, friendly competition, and games. Like, would you rather? Two truths and a lie. And I should have known that. Just like everything I'm reading now. There's a lot of fun packed in this one. So buckle up and let's do it.
SPEAKER_03I am ready to go. Let's get ready to rumble, guys. Well, let's go into a story first. I got a story. I have a story. One story that I have not yet told that is a true story is the one my wife and I went to Washington, D.C. We lined up early in the morning at outside the Supreme Court, and we got to attend a Supreme Court hearing. What? No way this sounds cool. Yes, it was cool. Uh you line up and you go inside, and they take everything from you that they can possibly take. You're not allowed, a mint, a stick of gum, anything. You can't take anything in, and you they give put it in a little locker, and they give you a check ticket, and you get it when you come back out. And you go in and you sit down, and um it's um very still, it's very quiet, it's um very controlled, and they've got two guys walking up and down the aisle the whole time looking at you to make sure you don't do anything.
SPEAKER_04No way.
SPEAKER_03Yes, yes. Was it fun? It was fun. Yeah, you got to sit there and I don't even remember what the case was they were listening to, but it was interesting to hear the the uh the lawyers uh ask the questions and present their side, and the the uh justices would ask questions. One of the most interesting things about it though was when we were all done, because we had read in our tour book that the Supreme Court had a a cafeteria. So when we got done, we asked one of the workers, How do you get to the cafeteria? And she was kind of surprised or seemed to be that we even knew about it. So she she directed us down the stairs. We went down there. It was open to the public. Well, at that time it was, may not be now. And we went in there and we ordered and we sat down. And the most interesting thing was that we were sitting there, and at our at the table next over to us, there was Ralph, uh Ralph, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and she was sitting there eating her salad, and the uh chief justice at the time, and I forget his name, he was there with his grandkids, and they were walking up and down the the aisles and playing and talking and having fun, and you just get to see the people out of their normal um element. Yeah, out of the normal element. And instead of being on a on a on the uh behind the bench all dressed up and starting and everything, there they were just being regular people. And that was the most interesting thing I'd ever seen in my life. Wow, that is really cool. Yeah, so we we enjoyed that.
SPEAKER_01That's like seeing somebody famous shopping at Costco. I've done that. It's weird.
SPEAKER_03You saw somebody famous at Costco?
SPEAKER_04Well, not like a celebrity famous, it was almost like political famous. I was I was at Costco, and this was many years ago when she was actually still the Arizona state governor, and I ran into Jan, Jan Brewer, and uh I didn't realize it, but um, yeah, she uh she walked down one of the aisles past me, and I guess I was just a little bit ahead of her. And uh then I was like, huh, I think I think I recognize that lady. Because I mean she didn't look like she, you know, she just gotta have a press conference, she didn't have on like all of the makeup and this and that. She looked like a normal, you know, a normal person you would see at Costco. And uh then the next dial over, I was on that, and again she was there. And uh I looked at her and uh she she was you know she was very nice and she's like hi and uh I said I think I know you and she's like oh really and I said yeah, aren't you Jan Brewer? And she's like, Oh honey, yeah. And uh I was like, Can I get a picture? And at first she said no. And then uh I sweet talked her into it. So I got a picture with Jan Brewer at Costco. Me and her were shopping together.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's interesting.
SPEAKER_04I have a there's a little bit more interesting to that story. I'll have to tell you off the line.
SPEAKER_03I have a uh celebrity story that's not from me, but from somebody that I know.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she's a friend of mine, and she worked at a uh department store in the valley, and this was many years ago. Which department? I I don't know which department. I don't really know what department she was in. But she was uh walking through her section and all of a sudden she turned the corner and there were the two guys from Leave It to Beaver.
SPEAKER_04What?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Wally and Beaver that were there. Oh my gosh. And she didn't she just went freaked out, she didn't know what to say. That's cool. It's like they're just people, you just should have said hi guys, and you know, but she didn't. She kind of freaked out. But anyway, so that was um that's the only celebrity story I have.
SPEAKER_01I always see people have meltdowns, you know, with when they have see celebrities run into them or want their pictures. And I don't know. I I just I don't think I've ever run into anybody that famous where they woo you that much?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I don't think I know anybody in life. I mean, there's only one I don't mean this in like a really, you know, uh theological way, but the only one person I think that would really woo me in life is if I actually saw like Jesus somewhere. I'd be like, oh, that would be the most starstruck I honestly think I would be, because I've seen some people. I mean, it may be controversial, but I have I back when it was okay to say this, I had I have a picture with, you know, Donald Trump. And him and I him and I met at one point. And uh no, that was uh that was a different time in my life. I have uh I have a lot of pictures with a lot of people, and I don't get wooed about that. I don't even show off about that. Like a lot of people would put that on their social media or something like that to try and front. And I just do it. I have I have it in my photo album in my phone just to look back for memories that I can share with, you know, just personal friends and family every now and then. You got any more stories, Ray?
SPEAKER_03I do, and I wanted to save this one for when Steffi was on here so that um I could get her reaction because I think it would be interesting. Okay, and I'm I'm interested in yours too. This is um here's some advice taken directly from a 1950s home economics textbook.
SPEAKER_01Oh, home ed.
SPEAKER_03Okay, and it's called When Your Husband Gets Home. Okay, and I read this at a teacher meeting that we had at school. I think it was Welcome Back to School or something, and I wanted some levity, so I checked with the principal's shoulder, and she said I could read it. So I read it out loud, and they um they were shocked, but yet they laughed at it. So I can't wait. Here we go. Have dinner ready. Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal on time. This is a way of letting him know that you have been thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they come home, and the prospects of a good meal are part of the warm welcome needed.
SPEAKER_01Did Jake put you up to this? Stephanie.
SPEAKER_03Stephanie, do you is your headphones on? Are you listening, Stephanie?
SPEAKER_04I had no I had no part in this, but it's hilarious.
SPEAKER_03No, it is it is hilarious. Uh prepare yourself. Take 15 minutes to rest so you will be refreshed when he arrives.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Touch up your makeup, put a ribbon in your hair, and be fresh looking. He has just been with a lot of work weary people. Be a little happy and a little more interesting. His boring day may need a lift. Boy, times have changed, haven't they?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yeah, that almost sounds like she's not been doing nothing with her day over here. All she has to do.
SPEAKER_01She's got 15 minutes. She's got enough time to take a nap and get ready.
SPEAKER_03That's very sexist sounding. And the next two are are very appropriate for you. Okay. Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives, gathering up school books, toys, papers, etc. Then run a dust cloth, are you kidding me, over the tables. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift too. Are you describing heaven? Oh, this one. Prepare the children.
SPEAKER_04Let's hear this. Oh my gosh. Ray's gonna get shot on the way home.
SPEAKER_03Take a few minutes to wash the children's hands and faces if they are small. Comb their hair, and if necessary, change their clothes. They are little treasures, and he would like to see them playing the part.
SPEAKER_00Whoa.
SPEAKER_01Not come home to them screaming and crying and food and messy from the days. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04That's some expectations.
SPEAKER_01That's easy. Well, I shouldn't say that's easy if you're staying at home because then I even when you stay at home, it's crazy and chaotic. But even stay at home wives and mothers, it's still a that's still a job.
SPEAKER_04I mean, it's still something to be respected.
SPEAKER_03It is, it is. Minimize all noise at the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of washer, dryer, dishwasher, or vacuum. Try to encourage the children to be quiet. Greet him with a warm smile and be glad to see him.
SPEAKER_01Oh wow. This is this is someone, this is like someone who comes home at the same time every day that you can almost guarantee like uh the exp you can expect them like clockwork. Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Like a Dick Van Dyke. But you guys don't have that kind of schedule. No.
SPEAKER_04No, we're both wild.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Some don't are. Some don'ts. So these are some things you don't do. Don't greet him with problems or complaints. Don't don't complain if he's late for dinner. Count this as minor compared with what he might have gone through that day. I knew you wouldn't agree.
SPEAKER_01I would throw my cookie at you, but I'm gonna save it. Preach it, Ray. Preach it.
SPEAKER_03Make him comfortable. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or suggest he lie down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him. Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soft, soothing, and pleasant voice. Allow him to relax and unwind.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_03Oh, wow.
SPEAKER_04Ray is cruising for a bonus. He wants a bump in his pay. Thank you.
SPEAKER_03Listen to him. You may have a dozen things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first.
SPEAKER_02Stifle. Whoa.
SPEAKER_03Whoa.
SPEAKER_02This is amazing but horrible at the same time.
SPEAKER_03There's one more. Making the evening his. Never complain if he does not take you out to dinner or other places of entertainment. Yeah, you better not. Instead, try to understand his world of strain and pressure is need to be home and relax. So times have changed since 1950, I can tell.
SPEAKER_04They have.
SPEAKER_03Can we go back? That sounds amazing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'd like to not work all day long.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that would be great, wouldn't it? Stay home, take care of the house.
SPEAKER_01Not quite.
SPEAKER_03Okay, that's my story that I have. That's your story. I've got a story. Okay, this uh would be good.
SPEAKER_04Hopefully, my dyslexia allows me to share. Okay. So this man shot and killed a bear. But after doing so, he noticed that the mother had a cub. Feeling guilty about leaving the baby all alone, he decided to bring the cub back to his hometown. Not long after he sold the bear to a soldier in the military. The soldier named the bear Winnie, and she soon became the unit's mascot.
SPEAKER_01Like Winnie the Pooh?
SPEAKER_04Stay tuned. When the unit was later deployed overseas, the soldier left Winnie at the zoo to ensure she would be safe. Winnie became so famous for her friendly nature, children loved to visit her, and some were even allowed to climb on her back for rides and stuff, you know? A young boy named Christopher became especially fascinated with Winnie. Christopher Robin? He loved I'm ignoring my wife, guys. He loved her so much typical that he named his teddy bear after the famous bear in the zoo. Oh. Christopher's father was so inspired by his son's imagination and began writing about the curious little boy and his beloved bear.
SPEAKER_03Oh, sounds like Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin.
SPEAKER_04It sure does. Mm-hmm. You have some uh interesting tidbits, Stephanie. I I saw you over there, couldn't wait to jump in. Yeah. Alright. What's that?
SPEAKER_01I have some I have some I have some uh stuttering. Some interesting little facts about that story. Oh that's what it is. I know that story. You do? Yeah. Which one? The one I shared or the one you just shared. I love Winnie the Pooh. I didn't know Winnie was a girl. Winnie was a girl, uh it was yeah, Winnie the Pooh. The actual bear was a girl. So yes, it was uh originally the soldier owned the bear, but I guess he couldn't take care of the bear, so he left him with the bear at um zoo in London.
SPEAKER_04Oh really?
SPEAKER_01And then um, yeah, she was all the kids' favorite attraction. But the actual fictional Winnie the Pooh, or Winnie um is portrayed as a as a male bear.
SPEAKER_04No.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So Pooh's referred to as a he, but the name Winnie came from a real female bear.
SPEAKER_03That's cute, huh? Oh, I didn't know that was a real story.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That's how weird the Pooh was created.
SPEAKER_04You know, Ray, you know what's odd?
SPEAKER_03What's odd?
SPEAKER_04Every other number.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I like that. That's good.
SPEAKER_04You uh you know how uh you know how into Mexico? Yeah. So Steph and I. Remembering back, Steph and I went to see a magic show in Mexico while we were there. And the magician on stage was doing a trick. He he was saying, you know, Uno, ghost. And then he vanished without a trace.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's good. That's good.
SPEAKER_04Have you heard of the new restaurant in town?
SPEAKER_03No? Tell me about it.
SPEAKER_04It's called Karma. But they don't have menus. You just get what you deserve.
SPEAKER_02Oh my goodness. Oh, oh.
SPEAKER_04What do you call a sad strawberry?
SPEAKER_02Sad strawberry? I don't know. A blueberry.
SPEAKER_03Oh, cute. Oh, that's cute.
SPEAKER_04Okay, what else do you guys got?
SPEAKER_03Um, I have something here. All right. I've got a uh limerick that I wrote. Ooh. I wrote one last time we had one about me, one about you, and I wrote one about Steph.
SPEAKER_01Oh, this is the one I can't wait to hear.
SPEAKER_03And uh to I'm I'm gonna go back and reread mine and Jacer's, and then we'll we'll introduce Steffi's. Oh, right. Does that sound good? Yeah, who are you doing? I'm doing me first. Okay, so Ray's Limerick. Okay. Because they were so good. We they need to be repeated. Oh, yeah, and there were a few episodes ago, so let's do a refresher. Even if I did write it myself. Okay.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah. You're getting the credit twice.
SPEAKER_03I know. There was a fellow named Ray who went to the altar to pray. With all of his might, he prayed for some light when one fell from the bay and hit Ray. And this one, this one is just hilarious. The one about Jakers. Oh boy. There was a young fellow named Jakers who wanted to play for the Lakers. He was great when he started, but then when he farted, he sent the whole team to their maker. That was fun.
SPEAKER_04All right, now let's hear Stephanie. Stephanie is a friend, new one you've been working on for what weeks? This is the one who's gonna debut in this episode for the first time.
SPEAKER_03Okay, ready? I'm ready. There was a fine lady named Steph who was known as an excellent chef. She whipped up some tacos and then she made nachos and took them to her brother named Jeff.
SPEAKER_01That's really funny because I love that.
SPEAKER_03I can see you doing that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That's really funny because what? I was just gonna say that there's a lot of Mexican families that they have some one person. He's usually the brother-in-law or something. His name's Jeff. The white cow.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's funny. Jack or Jeff. Jeff. I have I have one more I'd like to share. This was this is a famous limerick from 1910. It was written by Dixon Merritt, and I read it when I was a child, and I remembered part of it, but I had to look it up and write it down because I couldn't remember the whole thing. But it's it's a classic.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_03Okay. A wonderful bird is the pelican. His beak can hold more than his belly can. He can hold in his beak enough food for a week, but I'll be darned if I know how the hell he can. I like the play on words. Yeah, I do too. I thought it was very well, very well written.
SPEAKER_00That's cool.
SPEAKER_03Did you write that one? No, I didn't write that one. That's an oldie but goody. Yeah, that's an old one.
SPEAKER_01Oh, Ray. Thanks for the limerick, Ray.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, you're welcome. I had to write one about you because I couldn't leave you out. So you know how you like the bathroom jokes in every episode? Oh, yeah. You got some?
SPEAKER_04I got just one for you.
SPEAKER_03Okay, because I don't have any of this too.
SPEAKER_04Do the toilet flushing. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I love bathroom jokes. My dad used to have a book in the bathroom to read.
SPEAKER_04Why can you not hear uh hold on, let me let me read this. So don't give it away.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_04Why can't you hear a pterodactyl go to the bathroom? Why? Why? Why? Because the P is silent.
SPEAKER_03Sorry. Oh, that's good. I almost messed that one. That's a good one. You got another one?
SPEAKER_04I got I I got a couple more, but I'll just do one for now. I'll save a few for later. Okay. I'm creating this new software for dating.
SPEAKER_03Really? I thought there were a lot of dating apps out there.
SPEAKER_04No, I think this one will be cool. It's in Braille. It's called Touch Me.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. That sounds a little nasty to me.
SPEAKER_04It's a dating app, you know? I know. It is what you make of it. I know. I know. All right. Carry on, folks.
SPEAKER_01I have a bathroom joke for you. Oh, this ought to be good. What's brown and sticky? Oh, I'm not touching this. Brown and sticky?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. A stick. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03You had me feeling dirty over here. Oh no. Oh, that was slick.
SPEAKER_00That's a classic.
SPEAKER_03All right, you guys want to uh tell some more stories?
SPEAKER_04What do you got?
SPEAKER_03Well, I have one about Tony the Tiger if you want to listen to it. Okay. Tony the Tiger. In 1952, Kellogg's planned to feature a menagerie of animals, one for each letter of the alphabet, on packages of its sugar frosted flakes. They started with K and T, Katie the Kangaroo, and Tony the Tiger. But they never got any farther. Tony, who walked on all fours and had a much flatter face than today, was so popular that he became the cereal's official spokes character.
SPEAKER_01The family spokesperson.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. In the first Frosted Flakes commercials, only kids who ate Tony's cereal could see him. His personality has changed a number of times since then, but his voice hasn't. It's Thurl Ravenscroft, an ex-radio star who jokingly claims to have made a career out of just one word. Great.
SPEAKER_04Great. That's funny. I asked my wife if I was the only one she dated. Yeah. She said no, the others were nines and tens.
SPEAKER_03I did not say that. Oh, that's sad. You don't rate very high, do you?
SPEAKER_04I mean, she said, yeah, the other ones were nine and ten. Not no. But yeah. I messed that up. You messed up a joke.
SPEAKER_01Well, I wanted to share a couple of things.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01So I don't know if you know this, Ray, but one of our family favorites things to do as a family, even our toddler degrees, is to watch Wheel of Fortune. Okay. The wheel. The wheel. That's why Asher always, Dad, Dad, we're gonna watch the wheel.
SPEAKER_03But he doesn't even understand what's going on.
SPEAKER_01Oh, he always two T's. He knows that there's gonna be two T's up there all the time. And ten thousand dollars somewhere. Yeah. So he he he gets it, but he's excited. He likes to, he likes to watch it.
SPEAKER_04But they should make a kid's version of that. I was just thinking then. Just like small words, like four-letter words and stuff like that, and five letters. Four letter words, yeah. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_01So it's like five letters. No four letter words. It's it's it's the adult version of Hangman.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it is.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. Well, I have some uh interesting or true facts, I should say. Of the wheel of the wheel of facts. Okay, because I don't know too much. Is it about Vanna, Pat Sajak, Ryan? Sort of. So I'll give you, I'll go ahead and give you the the the truth about it. And then if you want me to get a little deeper, you can't. I'll I'll let you know.
SPEAKER_04I know some stuff, so just tell me what you don't want me to say because I don't want to ruin it. Okay.
SPEAKER_01So did you know these are the did you knows of Wheel of Fortune? The original name of the show was not Wheel of Fortune. I did not know. It was called it was called Shopper's Bazaar. Yes, that's terrible. The difference was the players didn't win any cash. They won fake money to put towards prizes on the set.
SPEAKER_03That's I remember that. Look at this studio filled with prizes. I remember that intro. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's hideous. The famous wheel weighs about 2,400 pounds. Whoa! It's heavy.
SPEAKER_04I know, I know that. Whoa.
SPEAKER_01It's got two more than 200 computerized lights, which can turn two million different colors, and it gets its token sound because it's got 73 stainless steel pins that fly past three rubber flippers.
SPEAKER_04Oh, that's a good sound. I like that sound. Yeah. 72 uh 72 pins.
SPEAKER_0173. I thought it was 72. Or 72. I don't know. It says 72. What either way.
SPEAKER_04Either way.
SPEAKER_01Bana White has worn more than 5,700 gowns on the show. Now, this this is from 2013. This is as of 2013. Okay. From this article. Oh, there's still 10 years on that. Oh more. Yeah. And the reason I I say that is because you know there's a little change in this show. Pat matches all his ties to Vanis Dresses. And they tape five or six shows a day.
SPEAKER_03No way. Yeah, I knew they did several a day. I didn't know how many.
SPEAKER_04Well, now I found out there's only two a day. They do it like at 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m. Wow. I know. Because I think Ryan has a busy schedule. He has a podcast and he does all those other every other show that you see on TV.
SPEAKER_01So there's more than 10,000 people try out a year and only 600 get on the show.
SPEAKER_03Wow, that they're really being picky, aren't they?
SPEAKER_04And once you get on the show, it's uh they consider it a lifetime opportunity. You're never allowed back on again.
SPEAKER_03Well, I wouldn't think so.
SPEAKER_04Unless there's like a special of like a hundred thousand dollar winners and you were a part of something special, then you can return. But the average guest is only allowed on one episode. And if you only won a thousand dollars or you didn't win anything, you know, that was that was your episode.
SPEAKER_01So I know this is the one thing that you we were talking about, how to figure this out.
SPEAKER_04What's that?
SPEAKER_01It's the puzzle board.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_01So it's made up as of 2013, it's made up of 52 touchscreen television monitors. It is touch screen.
SPEAKER_04So I don't think it's touch screen.
SPEAKER_01Is it touchscreen? I think it is. I don't think it is touchscreen. The board that Vanna White controls is a high-tech wonder. It says 52 touchscreen televisions turned on their sides. There are 12 across the top and bottom rows and 14 across the two middle rows. Now, as of 2022, Wheel of Fortune has manually turned the letter pieces or touched the sides of the individual monitors. But as of 2022, they changed it. So now all she has to do is gesture the screen. And the letters will appear. Instead of the 52 monitors, the puzzle board is now a single LED screen with two sensors to detect movement.
SPEAKER_03No way. Oh wow. Didn't look like one big board to me, and it still looks like individual ones.
SPEAKER_01It's called LIDAR. They use the technology in self-driving cars and on Mars.
SPEAKER_03Okay, yeah, I know LIDAR.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I like that. Did you see that big uh cushy mat she be walking on? Oh yeah. And they make it all blacked out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it looks like it's part of the floor, but it keeps it from the the tapping of my heels going click, click, click, click, click, click. So there's only one one wheel and one puzzle board. So if they have to travel like to a different place, they have to take it all down and put it all back together when the show goes on the road. Why would they do that?
SPEAKER_04Why wouldn't they just have like a there's only one?
SPEAKER_03Probably very expensive to do. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_04I would think that, yeah, that would, I don't know. That would be too much of a liability taking that on the road if that's the only one.
SPEAKER_01Do you know how much a vowel costs? I like to buy a vowel. Do you know how much it costs?
SPEAKER_04Oh, I used to know that. I don't know that anymore. I used to know how much a foul costs, but not a vowel.
SPEAKER_01It's $250. And it hasn't changed in 30 years. Oh, wow.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_01$250?
SPEAKER_04Wow.
SPEAKER_01I'd like to buy a vowel. So V does off-screen a long time ago when Pat Sajak was on, they used to have like how many times a letter was chosen, how many times it appears in a puzzle, like how many the two B's or two C's or whatever.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01There used to be someone on the side that would put up their fingers.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01They're called the finger boys.
SPEAKER_04Ray, did you have that job at one time?
SPEAKER_03No, but uh, that would be an interesting job, but I always wondered how he knew ahead of time what how many letters there were, but now it makes sense. He was just looking at the case. Yeah, someone would ask, like, are there any bees? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And someone would have the puzzle in front of them and hold up like two fingers, and then Pat would say, There are two B's.
SPEAKER_04Wow. That's cool.
SPEAKER_01The biggest payout amount was over a million dollars for one lucky contestant. Because according to the show, she had won a million in the bonus round, upping her payout to over a million.
SPEAKER_03No way. Whoa, that's nice.
SPEAKER_01And as far as the bonus wheel, it only has 24 prize envelopes.
SPEAKER_0424.
SPEAKER_01That's a lot. Here are fun facts for our favorite show.
SPEAKER_03I have something to add. Not not uh about Wheel of Fortune, but you talking about LIDAR. And I just happened to read today online that the city of Chandler here in Arizona put in a LIDAR crosswalk. What? Yes, because they did that. You know, you've seen those uh crosswalks where the the light is flashing overhead and you push the button and it flashes and the car stops and you can walk across. They did that because of uh Jewish people. They're not allowed to do work, like push buttons, they're not even allowed to push a button on um on their Sabbath. And so the city put in a lidar where they step on this blue circle, and after a few seconds it changes automatically, and you don't do any work to push the button. Oh, wow. So they've been they've they've done that.
SPEAKER_01So this is kind of a yeah, kind of a weird question. I if you're not supposed to do any work, then I guess why are you out and about?
SPEAKER_03Well, that's not working. So you're just walking from your home to your temple and back like your temple or whatnot.
SPEAKER_04But I was thinking that that would be good for other purposes, like people that have handicaps and stuff like that, that they just pull up and they're working.
SPEAKER_03I would think we're gonna see more of that uh appear now.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01LIDAR, that's the uh light, what is it?
SPEAKER_04Light detection, light and radar together, I think, or something like that. Light detection and ranging. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So it's it text uh measures movement and distance.
SPEAKER_03Wow, interesting.
SPEAKER_04After doing all the research online, Ray, I finally figured out how uh uh to child proof my house. I think I think I'm done. Oh really? What are you gonna do? But guess what? After I'm done childproofing the house, guess what happened?
SPEAKER_03What happened?
SPEAKER_04The kids still got in.
SPEAKER_03They're sneaky.
SPEAKER_04I need to do some more research.
SPEAKER_03Hey, I got a card here. Can we play a game? Yeah, let's play a game. Okay, Stephanie, this is for you. The executive producer. And we're looking for looking for when there's four questions, we're looking for four answers. We're not going to score it, okay?
SPEAKER_00Four. That's golf.
SPEAKER_03I was gonna say that's golf. And I don't know the answer to these, so I'm gonna have to look it up because I don't know. On what beverage can you read old number seven brand on the label?
SPEAKER_01That's whiskey. Are you sure?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she's right. What kind? Do you know what brand?
SPEAKER_01Um, Jack Daniels.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Wow. Wow. She knows more than I do. Okay. Number two. What disease known as the French disease did Al Capone suffer from and ultimately die from?
SPEAKER_01Typhoid?
SPEAKER_03I don't know. Think about it. French disease.
SPEAKER_01French disease.
SPEAKER_03The flu? No. Syphilis.
SPEAKER_01Syphilis.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Because you died from the syph. No, it's it, you know, it's yeah.
SPEAKER_04Anyway, we want to. So how many points did she get for the first answer?
SPEAKER_03We're not doing points, are we?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Oh, oh, we are. Oh.
SPEAKER_04Just read the number for the first one, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Says subtract four if answered incorrectly.
SPEAKER_04I know, but we we don't we don't uh we don't play, we don't want to play that way. Yeah, we just play the UFR way that we play is whatever the number uh is on the back. We've just been taking it. Okay, so she gets four points. So for the first one, she gets four points, and the second one she didn't answer.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, right. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_04We played differently, guys. You can't find you can look up our rules some more some other time.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Number three, what is the name of the princess in the 2001 movie Shrek? And I don't know the answer to this one.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I know this one.
SPEAKER_03I don't know this one.
SPEAKER_01It's Princess Fiona.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, four points. Yeah, four points. On this one, I'm just a favorite princess. I don't know this one at all either. I never heard of this person, so I'll probably get castigated because I don't know this word. Castigated, not that word. Wow, not that word. It's the two different words, they're two different words. What is the stage name of Marshall Bruce Mathers the third? I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Well, Bruce is not usually in there, and the third's not usually in there. We know typically know him as Marshall Mathers. Marshall Mathers is Eminem.
SPEAKER_03Well, look at seven points. Wow. I had no idea that was his real name.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, he's a third, too. Yeah, okay. So for Stephanie should be three M's then. Yes, three, yeah, it should be. Eminem Eminem. So for Stephanie, the first one she got uh four points. The second one she didn't uh right. The third one, she got four points, and the fourth one she got seven points. So she has a total of 15 points. Those are my those are my my lucky numbers.
SPEAKER_03Wow.
SPEAKER_01Four and seven.
SPEAKER_03Four and seven. Well, wow. Good for you. All right, so who's next?
SPEAKER_01Better up. Okay, who wants to go first?
SPEAKER_03I'll go next.
SPEAKER_01All right, Ray? I got you right here, Ray. And at the end, I'm gonna be like, you should have known that, Ray. Okay, okay. Should have known that. You ready?
SPEAKER_03I'm ready.
SPEAKER_01First one. What does the acronym DIY stand for?
SPEAKER_03I should know that because I watch the uh the uh home improvement shows. Um I like this DIY. Do it yourself.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Oh do it yourself. How many points? Six.
SPEAKER_04Oh, wow, that's a lot. Wow, look at you for do-it-yourself. Do it yourself.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Don't ask me for help.
SPEAKER_03Okay, ready? I'm ready.
SPEAKER_01What is the name of Bill and Hillary Clinton's daughter?
SPEAKER_03Oh, no, when they were in the White House, I knew that. Let me think. Um I'll say Chelsea. Chelsea's correct.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I I know that from rush hour. Who do you think you got, Chelsea Clinton?
SPEAKER_03No, I didn't see that movie. I remember that. I didn't see that movie. I love that movie. How many points? Five. Wow. Oh, this is I got the high high level question. I guess. Smart fart. Well, excuse me. Alrighty. Number three.
SPEAKER_01I'm curious to know this answer. What city is considered the birthplace of jazz? I know that.
SPEAKER_03Um, I think I know this one. I'm going to say it is um as they say down there, New Orleans.
SPEAKER_04Nollins. Something like that.
SPEAKER_03Nolins? Yeah. New Orleans. New Orleans. You are correct. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Sad.
SPEAKER_04Where's the old Orleans? Because I mean we know where the old Mexico is, and so it makes sense there's a new Mexico, but where's the where's the old Orleans?
SPEAKER_03I believe it's in France. Really? Is there Orleans in there? Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_04Bro, you got me.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I think they pronounce it Orleans.
SPEAKER_04Wow. Okay.
SPEAKER_03See, I do know a thing or two.
SPEAKER_04You know a thing or two about a thing or two.
SPEAKER_03I do. I'd like to play that game again, too.
SPEAKER_04All right. Okay. Question number three.
SPEAKER_03Four. Number four. We've done three.
SPEAKER_04No, we well, what was oh, we didn't. I didn't get the uh you didn't write down my point. Seven for three.
SPEAKER_01Darn.
SPEAKER_04Man, you're getting a big score over here.
SPEAKER_01So, last question. Last question. Which side is port side and which is starboard side on a boat?
SPEAKER_03Oh, I know that. I learned it once.
SPEAKER_01And explain and if you can, explain it so I understand because it's been a while.
SPEAKER_03Um I think I learned that from the pirate ride at Disneyland. Uh port is left and starboard is right.
SPEAKER_01Says when standing on the ship facing the front.
SPEAKER_03Facing the front.
SPEAKER_01Port side is left. Left.
SPEAKER_03And starboard is right.
SPEAKER_01Starboard is right. You're right.
SPEAKER_03Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01The only reason I know that I remembered that is because port and left are have the same letters.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's a good way to remember that. Oh, that's good.
SPEAKER_01Starboard is the other side.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah, the long side.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, the long word. So uh how many points do you get for that one?
SPEAKER_03Six. Boy, that's that was a high, that was a high rating card over there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you got the card with extra points. It was a long explanation, so that one deserves some extra. All right, let's see how I do. I'm nervous. I get the privilege of reading yours. Are you ready?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Now, I'm not reading these in any particular order, okay?
SPEAKER_04Fine.
SPEAKER_01What is the name of the Manhattan Arena where the ice hockey team, the New York Rangers, plays its home games?
SPEAKER_04Didn't they just do some big thing there? Uh Madison. Madison Square Garten.
SPEAKER_01It is the square of the garden. I would not have known that. Uh uh, what how many? Eight points. Whoa! Eight for Madison.
SPEAKER_04I will take Madison. I got a wimpy card. Wimpy Wimpy. Sorry.
SPEAKER_01This is gonna be fun for your for your dyslexia. How many zeros are there in 10 billion?
SPEAKER_03Oh, I'd have to write that one out.
SPEAKER_04How many million? Ten. Ten billion. Ten billion?
SPEAKER_03No, didn't it say 10 million or 10 billion? 10 billion. 10 billion. Oh.
unknownTen.
SPEAKER_01Like sure?
SPEAKER_04Uh there's ten zeros in ten billion. Yes.
SPEAKER_01There are ten. Yeah. You only get eight points for that. Should have got ten.
SPEAKER_04Oh. Man. Geez, hurtful.
SPEAKER_00What? How hurtful? I said you should have got ten points. No, I know.
SPEAKER_04I'm saying, yeah, I only got eight. I wasn't saying you have to say the card.
SPEAKER_01Alrighty. Number three. What color is the middle band of the German flag? And you should know this one.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, my dad was born in Germany. My dad was born in Germany. At a place that doesn't exist no more. No, true story. Uh, so you got the black, the yellow, and the red. But the red is the red is the red is center. Center stage red.
SPEAKER_01Red is correct. Really? Two points. Only two. That should be more than that. Oh man. Okay. All right. You should know this one. If you don't know this one, I'm gonna be very disappointed. Disappoint. I don't want to disappoint my wife. Alrighty. The stress. What gives wine its red color?
SPEAKER_04Well, the cheap wine, I think they put fake stuff in it, but uh the good wine doesn't need that. I think it gets that just from its grapes, right? It's all natural. Yes, that would be cheap grapes if the other ones. Cheap grapes.
SPEAKER_01So so is that correct? The grape skin. You got three points grapes. Yep. What? Three? Yeah. Only three? Yep. The grapes. Wine gets this color from the skin.
SPEAKER_04All right. Well, we have one clear winner.
SPEAKER_01And it was not me. You got 21 points. How many points did Ray get?
SPEAKER_04For third place, we have Stephanie coming in at 15 points. Ah. Drumroll plays first. Second place. Only three chart of the of the senior star of the UFR bunch is the host himself. Jakers at 21 points. And Mr. Ray, last up, is the clear winner with 24 points. Count them.
SPEAKER_01You're the big wiener. And I lost to the syphilis.
SPEAKER_04Hey, uh, I got a joke from when my dad was on here. Uh what do you give a what do you give a guy who has everything?
SPEAKER_03I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Penicillin.
SPEAKER_03Oh. Great.
SPEAKER_04Speaking of my dad. Thank you. Speaking of my dad. My dad asked where my dad asked me where uh where my sister's husband was from. And so I said, Alaska. And he said, never mind. I'll ask her myself. That's good. That's good. Alaska. Would you rather?
SPEAKER_02Would you rather?
SPEAKER_04All right, would you rather? Would you guys rather? Who wants to answer this one first? Would you guys rather drink uh drink only polluted rainwater or sour milk?
SPEAKER_03I'd rather drink polluted rainwater.
SPEAKER_01Polluted? How polluted? What's it polluted with? Polluted is polluted.
SPEAKER_04I don't know about like Fear Factor polluted, where it might have like cow tongue and everything else in it, but it's polluted.
SPEAKER_00What does it say?
SPEAKER_01What kind of polluted? What does it say?
SPEAKER_04Would you rather drink only polluted rainwater? Only polluted. Yeah, so whatever it washes on a sour cow milk.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I'll drink the rainwater all day.
SPEAKER_04Rainwater, rainwater? Yeah. Yeah. I think we got three rainwaters because I'm not doing no rotten cow milk.
unknownOh no.
SPEAKER_04You barely do regular milk. I'm allergic. I just found out. At 40 years old, I just found out that I'm allergic to cow's milk. What a psh. I don't know what they did to me. Anyways, who's next?
SPEAKER_01Okay, I'll go.
SPEAKER_04Welcome to the show.
SPEAKER_01Haha. Would you rather invent a machine that lets you ride a dinosaur? Ooh. Or walk on the moon. Ooh. I'll go first.
SPEAKER_04My son Asher, right now, is obsessed with dinosaurs.
SPEAKER_01Obsessed is a kind word.
SPEAKER_04Like he is. I miss Asher because all I have is a little dinosaur at this moment. He thinks he's a dinosaur. T-Rex to be exact. At this moment, I think it would be fun to be a dinosaur for uh on behalf of my son and to have more fun with him and stuff like that. He he would find it so uh probably entertaining if Daddy was a dinosaur.
SPEAKER_01So you're gonna be the one that gives all the kids dinosaur rides?
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah. Kind of like in the pool, like when you act like you're uh you act like you're the whale in the pool and all the kids get on your back and you go take them for a swim and all that stuff.
SPEAKER_01I'd rather walk on the moon.
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah? Like moon walk like Michael Jackson or actually walk on the moon?
SPEAKER_01Actually walk on the moon.
SPEAKER_04Okay, like in Hollywood.
SPEAKER_01No, that way I can say I actually did it.
SPEAKER_04No, Ray, and I don't believe it actually happened. So you if you walked on the moon, it'd probably be in Hollywood. It can't be in the real moon. It would be the real moon if I actually did it.
SPEAKER_01I'd be the only one.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Go ahead, Ray.
SPEAKER_03Um I don't think I want to go to outer space, so I'd rather ride a dinosaur. Yeah. Yeah, I could do that. I could do that. Okay. You want a question here? Or an answer. I don't care. Throw it at me. Would you rather be a member of the English royal family or a descendant of the Rockefellers?
SPEAKER_04Stephanie, take this one.
SPEAKER_01Uh, which Rockefellers?
SPEAKER_04I know what I would say. I just want to know your guys'ness.
SPEAKER_01Repeat that first part. Of the English royal family?
SPEAKER_03Or in a member of the English royal family or a descendant of the Rockefellers?
SPEAKER_01I think I'd rather be English. I'd like to live in a castle and you like to have a spotted teeth. Yeah. I would. It'd be very Bridgeton.
SPEAKER_04They also have spotted other things, but I want to be appropriate. Okay. You can look it up. Ray? What'd you go? Would you what you like the royal family or you want to be a Rockefeller?
SPEAKER_03Oh, I would oh, I would be a Rockefeller. In fact, I was talking to my wife the other day. We were seeing something about the royal family. I said, I would never, ever want to be a royal family. You just have to be so proper and prim and and everything, and you couldn't ever no. Whereas a Rockefeller, you could you'd got the money, but you wouldn't necessarily have to flash it around and and and all that. So I I'd rather be a Rockefeller.
SPEAKER_01But descendants don't necessarily mean you inherit, does it?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. But that you don't understand the descendants of the Rockefellers. Yes, that's all they do is inherit. Oh they're not going to be able to do that. They invest in generational family wealth.
SPEAKER_03They make sure they do that on purpose.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. They have life insurance on every single one person in the family that goes back to the trust. And anytime somebody dies or anything else, the family gets more money. And that's how the wealth gets bigger and bigger and bigger.
unknownCrazy.
SPEAKER_04So with that being said, I still pick England. I would still love to be a part of the Rockefeller family. Unfortunately, I don't think that they do things, you know, completely moral and biblical. There's a lot of underground secret society living, I'm sure, in that family. But um, there's a lot of power. A lot of power. And I think that even though you're a part of the royal family and it appears that you have some power, which you you probably do, I still think that the Rockefeller family has a lot more power.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so much so I don't think you get to make any of your own decisions.
SPEAKER_04There's it's like a it's like a way of living in that family. Would you rather? Ray, I know you like this one. This will bring back some old memories. Okay. Like when you're 18. Okay. Would you rather ski blindfolded or snow tube with your hands tied behind your back?
SPEAKER_01Like on an inner tube?
SPEAKER_04Um, it says snow tube. So any tube you can imagine, I'm sure inner tube. You would do an inner tube with your hands tied behind your back instead of skiing blindfolded. Oh, yeah. Okay. Tie her up, throw her on the tube, guys.
SPEAKER_03Right. Um, well, once again, I wouldn't do either one, but um um it would have to be the inner tube because I'm not going out on no water.
SPEAKER_01Who said it's water? Ski in the snow.
SPEAKER_03Skiing is water. I'm not going out there.
SPEAKER_01There's no water ski, snow ski.
SPEAKER_03There's also snow skiing. Oh. I'd rather do the tube.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03I would do the tube. But I use your body like oh I should tell you two stories about about that.
SPEAKER_01Uh I knew you had some.
SPEAKER_03I I've got a story for everything. You know I do. Okay, we'll circle back to this. Well, years and years ago, there was a young lady in our church that went on a snow trip with the with the college group, and she ran into a tree and she became uh physically and mentally disabled. And she and she never she was so nice, and then she yeah, so she was different after that.
SPEAKER_04Like a son like a sunny bono.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and then uh and then I know a young man at our church also that he um was skiing, and he he also did something with his leg. And when I saw him at church later, he had a cast, and there was there was blood coming out of it. It was that's how yeah, dry blood. You so that's uh I will never do skiing after those those two stories.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'm afraid to ski. You almost couldn't get through that. I saw it.
SPEAKER_03No, I almost couldn't. No, that was too too extremely.
SPEAKER_01If I had to pick between skiing and snowboarding, I think it's snowboard.
SPEAKER_04Okay, well, I'm still gonna go with skiing blindfold folded.
SPEAKER_01No way.
SPEAKER_04I think if I if I was on the water, water skiing, not snow skiing, it'd be a little safer because you can't just hit a tree. And that would be that'd be a thrill. I went skydiving and I'm all about the thrills. I like the roller coasters and all that. Um no bungee jumping for me though. But uh I like all the I like the all the thrills.
SPEAKER_01I was gonna say to the person who says that uh you don't want to go bungee jumping. No thrill seeking for you.
SPEAKER_04I just I have my limits and uh more people die, especially recently. You can go and look it up from bungee jumping. I hate it.
SPEAKER_01Alright, I have one for you. Okay would you rather dance with a broken foot or me, me, me, me, me, sing with laryngitis?
SPEAKER_04I think I'd rather dance with a broken foot.
SPEAKER_01I'd rather sing. If I could sing and I just happen to have a laryngitis, I would go through it. Harry a different tune. It'd sound different.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it would. It would sound very different. A little Larry, a little gidesey.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Ray, what you got?
SPEAKER_03Well, once again, of the two, I would pick neither, but um, since I have to pick one, I wouldn't I know, I know. I I am no fun really with when it because I don't do any of this activity stuff. But um I don't either. If I could I'm unlike Stephanie, if I could sing, I would I would do the laryngitis because people would understand that, but a broken foot that would just be so painful, there's no way I could do that.
SPEAKER_04You couldn't dance on a broken foot, like even if it was in a cast or something like that?
SPEAKER_03No. Okay, I don't think so. Well, if it was in a cast, yeah, but if it had just gotten broken and wasn't fixed yet, it'd be painful. Yeah, it would be okay. Oh, another one. Darn. Would you rather climb up the outside of the Empire State Building or Big Ben? And I would have to pick Big Ben because it's not nearly as high. So it's a little Ben.
SPEAKER_01Save the clock tower. Save the clock tower.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I got a story about that.
SPEAKER_01Oh, really?
SPEAKER_03Uh, you know, I got a story about everything. Okay, save the clock tower. Let's begin. Yeah, when my wife and I went to England, we we got off the uh the subway and were walking along, and we got we came up from under the subway and um we said, wonder wonder where the clock is. Because we knew we were gonna be close by, and then we heard the the ding ding ding, and we said, Oh, it's gotta be around here someplace. Because we uh that's we as soon as we came up, we heard a dinging. So did you find it? Well, yeah, we just turned around and there it was. Oh that would have been better to finish the story with that.
SPEAKER_04Oh all right, anyway, your card. Oh, yeah, Big Ben. Um I would climb. Well, wouldn't the Empire State Building be easier? No. I was thinking, you know what I was thinking? What's that building in France? Eiffel Tower. Eiffel Tower? I would think that would be easier because it had those things.
SPEAKER_03But uh yeah, you could grab onto.
SPEAKER_04Interesting. I think it would be more interesting to climb Big Ben. Because like when you're climbing it, it'd be going off and making all the sound effects and rattling the sides of the walls, shimming you down with its vibration. Oh, yeah, I love it. I think I I think that sounds more entertaining.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm Big Ben for you.
SPEAKER_04Or three Big Beners.
SPEAKER_01Alright. All right, my last one. Yep. Okay. This is for the times. Would you rather attend a technology-free school or maybe a technology-free work? Or live in a technology-free home.
SPEAKER_03Well, I am not a technological person, so I could probably have a technology-free home.
SPEAKER_04I would Are you sure your refrigerator and dishwasher can't operate without a smartphone?
SPEAKER_03Yes, they can. But I yeah, I would have to, yeah. Everything manual? Yeah, not fully fully functional. Everything manual. Yep, yep, yep.
SPEAKER_04I would like to have a a uh technology-free um school. I would like to learn hands-on. Um I like that. But when I get home, I want some technology. I want I don't technology was um sold to us to make life easier. And majority of the time, I have to say that's a lie because it makes life more complicated. For instance, when I have to log into something as simple as uh uh fast food app, and they want more credentials and more password um updates and verifications than my own bank account. There's there's something there's something terribly wrong with that. Like it's no longer convenient when I have to do a face ID, a one character with 18 different other things that can't match. And every time I log in, I have to get the budget.
SPEAKER_01Don't forget the text-to-passcode.
SPEAKER_04Text-to-passcode, type these pictures to confirm you're not a robot. Oh, the caption. And I'm like, I'm just hungry. I just want a freaking cheeseburger, guys. Can I get in the app so I can get my freaking cheeseburger? I I I'm not joking. One time I spent like 30 minutes trying to get in this app just to get some fast food.
SPEAKER_01That's a lot of fun when you're hangry.
SPEAKER_04And it's not somebody at the fast food places needs to listen to this because it is not fun. Like, there is no reason why you're securing my points on this app for some stupid free food that you can't even get all at once. You have to do it individually, more and more safer than my own bank account.
SPEAKER_01Like, ugh.
SPEAKER_04I feel old. And rant.
SPEAKER_01There's your rant for the day. So, uh, what was the question? I I I don't know. I mean, this is this is okay. If it was like a technology-free work environment, I think I would have a hard time because you know, we use a lot of that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I think it'd make my day more stressful. But then when I come home, I don't know. Like you, like you said, I like to divulge a little bit.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, there's sometimes when technology does make life easy though. Like, you know, when you come in, and I know it's old technology, but when you come in the door and you hit the light switch and lights come on and you don't have to turn on a candle or or light some gas or this or that, you know, that that is so convenient. When you know, they're some of the simplest technologies that we've used for, you know, years is just really, really, really good.
SPEAKER_01I think I'll have to pick the deal with worker school. I'll deal with it somewhere else.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'll deal with it somewhere else.
SPEAKER_03That's exactly. Oh, can I tell a story? You know, I always have a story that goes with everything. I don't know why. That's a story too. Because I've been around 250 years. I guess that's been around.
SPEAKER_04That's what they say. Yeah. Reputation.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, well.
SPEAKER_00Go ahead. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_03What Jake just talked about happened to me. Um, I believe it was yesterday. No way. Yes. I was did tell. Well, I could not remember the password for my bank account. Really? And I so okay. I'll help you out. So I went. No, no. So I I I went to the to the bank website. Okay, call this number and we will help you reset your password. Okay. So I called this number and it was a phone tree. So you push the button, and finally I pushed the button. You want to reset your password. Okay. So I pushed it, and then I had to wait and wait and wait until somebody answered the phone. And then I told her what I wanted. She said, Oh, I can't help you. You got to go to the branch.
SPEAKER_04Oh boy.
SPEAKER_03And it's like, why did you send me there if you knew I couldn't do it?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So three trips to the branch. I had to go to. They'd send me home with the coat. Okay, go. No, it wouldn't work. I go back. Oh, here, try this one. And it didn't work. So I went back the third time, and the lady felt sorry for me. So she um she made phone calls and she had to wait in line and she reset it for me. But that was an that was about almost an hour and a half just to just to reset a password on a bank account. And it was so difficult. It's like it it it it was so frustrating.
SPEAKER_01It confirms your validity of why you don't use uh technol technology as much as well. Exactly.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And even I get that a lot.
SPEAKER_04And even then, I mean, even you doing all those emotions, somebody can still hack your bank account. It's like you you spent two hours trying to get into your own bank account. Right, right. But yeah, somebody can hack it so easily.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And now I'm like, I don't understand. I've heard there's those gas station scams going on right now, too. That's a whole new thing. That's a whole new thing. You go to the uh you go to the pump and you got you see that mystery screw that's in there. Yeah. And so that little flapper is supposed to come down and stop the pump, um, or whatnot, or when you push it up, you know, it's supposed to it's supposed to trigger the pump to actually stop because you stop pumping. Well, a lot of these uh mom and pop gas stations or whatnot put this little mystery screw in there, you can see it. You it's not hidden, but uh that screw stops the flapper from flapping. And then uh once you pull away, you you you thought you only pumped like 10 bucks worth of gas, but once you pull away, they come and they fill up their car and their uh gas tanks and their gas cans and everything else until it gets maxed out. And uh yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I just saw about that. Yeah, you're right.
SPEAKER_04There's videos all over the line. You gotta watch out for that mystery screw. Look at your gas pumps. There's a little screw in there, and if there's a mystery screw in there, go to another station.
SPEAKER_01That's interesting.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yep, yep. And and you don't want to take that screw out yourself because you can get in trouble for tampering with the pumps. So it's one of those things where it's like if you see it, just just leave. Don't even give them your move it along. Don't even give them your business. Wow. Well, uh, you guys want to hit some truths and lies? Or lies and truths?
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, I got I got a list here someplace.
SPEAKER_04We've got two truths and a lie. So between us all, we got two, four, six truths and three lies. Uh-oh. That we're gonna try to do this.
SPEAKER_03Let's see if we can figure this out. Okay. Yes. Okay.
SPEAKER_04Who wants to go first? I can go first or who wants to go first?
SPEAKER_01Uh who's ready?
SPEAKER_04Who's ready?
SPEAKER_03I'll go first.
SPEAKER_01Okay, go ahead. I'll go second.
SPEAKER_03I'll finish it. Okay. I have been to Cape Kennedy.
SPEAKER_04Cape Kennedy.
SPEAKER_03I have driven Route 66 from California to Chicago. And I have been to the Statue of Liberty. I know these are I I picked these because they're gonna be hard.
SPEAKER_04So one, two, three. I think Okay. I th I think I I think I know, Stephanie. Do you?
SPEAKER_01You've been to the Statue of Liberty?
SPEAKER_03You have been to it was I wanna say Cape Canaveral, but yeah, well, I think they may have changed it back to Canaveral, but anyway, Cape Kennedy.
SPEAKER_01Cape Kennedy. So it was Cape, yeah, Cape Canaveral. It's in Florida, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then the other one was.
SPEAKER_03Uh I drove Route 66 from California to Chicago.
SPEAKER_01Oh. I want to say the lie is you've you've been to Cape Kennedy.
SPEAKER_04That is what I uh agree to.
SPEAKER_01I think the other church I think you have I mean, I know you've you did a lot of traveling, so I want to say you did Route 66.
SPEAKER_04They did a lot of Route 66. So I'm almost thinking, even if it wasn't consecutively at once, I think they did the Route Sixty Six one. I do think that they did the Statue of Liberty because I almost Remember him in a previous podcast talking something about the Statue of Liberty, but I'm not sure. So I would agree. I would think the lie is the Cape Kennedy or Cape Canaveral. Is that our finals?
SPEAKER_03Is that your final answer? Stephanie.
SPEAKER_04Yes. Okay. That's me too.
SPEAKER_03Wrong. What? Yeah, I've been to Cape Kennedy and toured the place and been to the Statue of Liberty. We've driven parts of Route 66, but never from one to all the way to the other. We haven't driven as much as I wanted to. Oh, wow. Sorry. I thought that was the easy one. Sorry. I thought that's that would throw you.
SPEAKER_04You got us. I gotcha. All right, Steph. I'm ready. Let's hear what my wife's got. See, see how good her husband is.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, her husband should know these.
SPEAKER_04I'll let you go first, Ray, so I don't ruin it. Okay. I'll let you try and okay.
SPEAKER_01Okay. I have a fear of heights. You have what? I have a fear of heights. Okay. I most vertically challenged people are, aren't they? Sorry. I taught both my kids how to swim. Well, I have three, but I taught both of both of the little kids to swim. And I have walked uh across the San Francisco Bay Bridge with my foot.
SPEAKER_04Okay, this is interesting.
SPEAKER_03Um the first two are true, and you have not walked across the bridge.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Okay, so I'm different. I think the first and the last is true, and the second is a lie.
SPEAKER_01What is the second? And you say that I didn't walk across the bridge. Right. Who knows, Stephanie? Ray or Jacob. Well, you are married to me.
SPEAKER_04Dun dun dun. No, but based upon this game.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. So I do have a healthy fear of heights.
SPEAKER_04That one I knew. She's short, so she anything that's you know over four foot tall, she's almost afraid of how to swim.
SPEAKER_03Oh, you don't know how to swim. Oh wow. Oh, you fooled me on that one.
SPEAKER_01But I did walk across the whole San Francisco Bay Bridge.
SPEAKER_03Oh wow.
SPEAKER_01With my dad.
SPEAKER_03Oh, cool.
SPEAKER_01How long did it take? Like, I don't know, like two hours, an hour or something like that.
SPEAKER_04Do you have to pay a toll to walk across to what you do when you drive? No, but we did.
SPEAKER_01We walked the whole thing. That is cool. Yeah, it was cool. Very cool.
SPEAKER_04All right, you guys ready? I'm ready. I I really took some time on this one. So I uh I made it so the family here, the UFR family can participate, and also the entire UFR audience can participate. If you uh if you know me, you know me. If you don't, you don't. So let's just see. Uh I can remember every episode title we've ever made, and I can prove it if I have to. You mean you can the first one.
SPEAKER_01You can you're does this mean that you can remember it if I say, hey, what is episode 25? You could tell me exactly what it is off the top of your head, kind of thing.
SPEAKER_04I can remember every episode title we've ever made, and I can prove it if I have to. Meaning that if I had to rattle off from episode one to what episode are we on? 30 uh 41. From one to 41, I'm ready, I'm ready. Okay, what's the next one? Next one, number two. I've had to do more than five takes during a segment because my dyslexia turned into my dyslexia turned a simple sentence into a full obstacle course. I I just did that to that right there.
SPEAKER_02So I mean and number three.
SPEAKER_04Number three. I've written nearly every episode entirely on my own.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Can I go ahead? Can I do that? Go ahead.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, one, two, or three. Which is the lie?
SPEAKER_03Well, shoot. This is pretty good though, huh? It is good. Um, I I don't you're always mentioning to me uh episodes and what they're about, so you might know that. But I also know you use some AI when you write the episodes. So that might be the lie.
SPEAKER_04I would never do that. That's cheating. Oh my gosh. Hurtful. How could you? And what was number two? My assistant is highly offended. What's number two?
SPEAKER_00AI assistant?
SPEAKER_04What's number two? Uh number two is I've had I've had to do more than five takes during a segment because dyslexia turned a simple sentence into a full obstacle course.
SPEAKER_03That's true. I was here when some of those happened, so I know you did that. And um, boy. I'm gonna say two and three are true. One's a lie. You don't know all those by memory.
SPEAKER_04Okay, and and my wife. I'm I'm interested in knowing.
SPEAKER_01I want to say uh it's three.
SPEAKER_04Three's a lie.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you write them all by yourself.
SPEAKER_04Well, Ray, you won. Huh? I won. You won. You beat my wife. Whoa. Whoa. I cannot remember every single episode title we've ever made. And I'm not going to prove it. I am not ready to do that. I can, similar to like what Stephanie said, if you mention episode, I could probably walk us through on, hey, I think that episode was about such and such, almost like we did on reflection session. Um, but yes, I have had to do more than five takes. Sometimes ask Ronnie, ask Ronnie Cash, probably some sometimes 10 takes during a segment because of my uh my issues, my dyslexia issues. And I have written not every, but nearly every episode. He has on my own. Yeah, you have. I'm not gonna say I did everything on my own, because that's for one very prideful. But I mean, in all honesty, yes, I I did a lot of writing um in every single episode. Like there, there's just there's an enormous every episode for sure. Yes.
SPEAKER_01So that was really, really, really fun. I like that one. I liked it. Ray. I think we should quiz you though. I think we should like do like a uh I could read off a random episode title because I know you have a list. And then you can tell me, and then you can tell me who was in it or what what it was about.
SPEAKER_04That would be fun at some point. So, Ray, yes, why do people living in Greece hate to wake up at dawn?
SPEAKER_03Dawn. Um Greece. I have no idea why. Because Dawn's tough on Greece. Oh, oh. I should have seen that one. I should have seen that one.
SPEAKER_01You should have known that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I should have known that. In 1770, an American friend gave renowned English scientist Joseph Priestley a ball made out of material Priestley had never seen before. He observed that the material, which was sap from a South American tree, could rub away pencil marks from paper. So he called it rubber. Wow. It wasn't until the discovery of vulcanized rubber in 1839 that rubber erasers became practical. And even then, it took another 20 years before a Philadelphia inventor named Hyman Lippmann patented the first pencil with an eraser.
SPEAKER_04No way.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So I heard when the pencil first got um manufactured that it it wasn't just a one country type of um you can look me up on this. But from what I remember back on one of those, you know, history channel shows is the pencil when it first became into existence, it took like three different countries to help manufacture it. One did the trees, the other one did the lead, the other one had to do the um the eraser part of it. And by the time they were, you know, pieced it all together, that's what made the official product one country by itself. Yeah, I think so. I think I rem I remember hearing that somewhere. Yeah, one country by itself, I believe it was, could not fully produce the pencil at one time. Teamwork. That's what humanity is. We are all needed, whether we're you know, white, black, yellow, orange, green, whatever descent we are, we are all needed. Just like the fingers on my hand. They're all different shapes and sizes, but I need my thumb, I need my pinky. They all look funny, but I need them. I we are all needed. We all have different jobs. We all can't be the quarterbacks, we all can't be the movie stars, we all can't be the heart surgeons. We are all needed. There's a dirty job somebody's gotta do it. Isn't that what Mike Rowe says? That's what he says. Yeah, it's a dirty job, somebody's gotta do it. There's a lot of dirty jobs, and we, you know, we should all be uh grateful for each other, even you know, even the people that do things that we normally probably wouldn't do. We should, you know, be respectful and thankful and grateful that they do it because if we didn't have the trash guy coming to pick up our trash every week, man, our neighborhoods would look terrible.
SPEAKER_01Speaking of dirty jobs, um what happened? What do you get when a tree goes poo?
SPEAKER_04A tree goes poo? Tree goes poo. Ooh. Um, I'm not sure, Ray.
SPEAKER_03You got this? Samp? I don't know.
SPEAKER_01A number two pencil.
SPEAKER_05Oh, brother.
SPEAKER_01That was a good pencil.
SPEAKER_03I like that one. I like that one. I haven't heard that one before.
SPEAKER_01Back to back to our regularly scheduled program. I have another I have another bathroom joke.
SPEAKER_04Ray is influencing you. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00What kind of dog lives in the toilet?
SPEAKER_03What kind of dog lives in a toilet? No, I'm afraid to say it. Say it. Shou. Is that true?
SPEAKER_02I love it.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. That was terrible, but I love it. Is that the right answer? Oh my god. That's a poodle. Oh, a poodle. Oh. Oh, well, I think they both could be found there. I think they could both be there.
SPEAKER_00That was pretty good.
SPEAKER_03I love it.
SPEAKER_00That was pretty good, right?
SPEAKER_04You should saw his face. No, but I'm afraid to say it. I'm like, you got it. Say it. You got my permission.
SPEAKER_00That's funny. That was hilarious. Oh my goodness.
